Depeche Mode has rubbished rumours that they have been booked to play at Glastonbury Festival this year.
Keyboardist Andy Fletcher cleared up internet claims that the group
would be performing at the Somerset bash, during an interview with
Kerrang! Radio's Emma Scott. "That is a rumour and it's not true." Says
Fletcher. "Unless our management is going behind our backs, as far as
we're concerned that is definitely not on."
Elsewhere in the interview, Andy let slip that Depeche Mode would be
touring "until February" next year - despite the band previously
announcing their 'World Tour of the Universe 2009' would only be
running until September.
Scott asked if their schedule had been increased, to which Fletcher
replied: "I've given it away, you're going to get me in trouble now. My
manager's going to come down on me heavy!"
"It's likely that we will be doing quite a few more dates – maybe
Birmingham (UK). It would be nice to put our feet up after September
but the fans are just going crazy, we might have to extend it. There
could be riots!"
Earlier today, frontman Dave Gahan said their new material had been influenced by R&B.. Depeche Mode release new album 'Sounds Of The Universe' on April 21st. Source
