We're pleased to announce that, following this weekend's finals at the Pilton Working Men's Club, disco-rockers We Have Band were crowned winners of the 2009 Emerging Talent Competition. The judges, who included Michael and Emily Eavis from the Festival, Huw Stephens from BBC Radio One and music journalists from the Q stable, commented: "The decision was unanimous. We Have Band are strikingly original, energetic and deserving of a main stage slot.” Over on their MySpace page, We Have Band wrote, "WE CAN'T BELIEVE IT... WE'RE REALLY EXCITED...".

"The whole weekend went really, really well," Emily Eavis told us. "It was a particularly high standard this year and I'm really pleased that all 12 of the finalists will be playing at the Festival. The people who come along to watch the finals range from curious Pilton locals to hardened music journalists and We Have Band definitely united the whole crowd. They were just so upbeat and energetic - I think they'll definitely be capable of making it work on a big stage at the Festival. And now that they're booked, that's the bill pretty much complete for this year. There are no more slots left now!"
