Can anyone tell me approx how near you can park to the family camping field. There are 4 of us, including 2 littlies and we have a very very heavy tent plus all the usual kit and we're worried about how far we have to transport it .

Any ideas?

Convert a buggy?? I saw someone with a three wheel pneumatic tyre buggy with a load of stuff in it in '05.

It can be quite a walk, it just depends which set of car parks you're directed to and how early you get there.

I took a sack barrow last time round, and that worked pretty well. Though I don't fancy taking it again on public transport.

It now appears that I can't be bothered to drive all that way, and particularly all that way back, so Gregg and I shall more than likely do the sleeper train thing again.

We might even do the train thing from London to Castle Cary, try arriving at the site by bus for the first time ever.

No matter how we do the majority of the journey, I always seem to do the last bit in a car, whether car sharing with 'strangers', or going in a mate (Paterson) from Bristol's car.

As mentioned the site is huge. To give you a conservative idea, if you get in the nearest car park you'll be looking at a 30-45 minute walk at least. However it depends how they'll structure car parks this year. Keep an eye open as there will be maps available before the festival.

which car park you end up in usually depends on which route you take - can't remember the road names etc but there's a way which doesn't go through Glasters itself - you kinda come up on it from behind (snigger)

2005 Map

This'll give you an idea of the layout of the site, but it might be changed. In fact, I'm pretty sure it will have, especially with the added capacity, I think I heard mention of another field. No idea where it might be, though I guess the possible locations are limited due to being hemmed in by A roads.

Another great 2005 map thing.

From a bit of scouring the interweb, I've read a few times that the suspicion is that the new camping fields will be primarily on the western side of the site. Which means the west car parks will be even further away than last time. Eventually we're all going to have to park on the other side of the A361!
