Thousands of abandoned tents are still littering the site of the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset.

Revellers had been told that any tents left behind would be sent to crisis areas around the world.

But due to a mix up over who was supposed to collect them, many tents are being binned.

A spokesman from charity Global Hand said: "We obtained around 350 tents from the site. We're very happy with this result."

"We hope to do more next year," he added. "Every tent collected is one more that can be re-used by people in need."

Robert Kearle, a festival manager, added: "There seems to be some muck up between us and the charity involved.

"They thought we were doing it and vice versa. Eight different charities have been taking hundreds of tents away, though."

I'm a bit narked by this. I left my tent, mainly because it was getting a bit tatty and it was pissing down so I was quite happy leaving it knowing it was going to be used. The fact it may not be due to a 'muck up' is a bit rubbish.

Bought a £300 tent 4 the fest.... nearly left it there if it wasn't for a m8 who had a caravan ^^. They can all be sold for charities etc, must be a bit of a pain in the a**e cleanin' em all though.
