Michael Eavis has announced that, unfortunately, Myleene Klass has been forced to withdraw as host from the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza classical concert on August 9th. But the good news is that Aled Jones has been confirmed as a very worthy replacement.

Myleene explained: "I am very sad to have to withdraw from the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza. It is a great show and one I feel very passionately about, but unfortunately an unforeseen change to my filming commitments won't allow me to be there on the day. I send my sincerest apologies to all involved for the cancellation of my appearance and I am delighted that the incredibly talented Aled Jones is able to take my place as host and special guest".

Michael echoed Myleene’s sentiments saying, “I am really sorry that fans of Myleene may be disappointed, but I can assure you that Aled Jones will more than suffice. He will be an ideal host and it will be a memorable evening!” Michael confirmed the programme will be devoted to a selection of well known classical favourites, with fountains, lights and fireworks.

Singer, actor, radio and TV presenter Aled Jones will now host the concert and perform with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza on Sunday 9th August, alongside guests Jo Appleby, Andrew Rees and the Corelli Quartet.

Aled first came into public view as a young treble with a voice of remarkable clarity. He has been a regular presenter on Songs of Praise over the years, but is perhaps best known for “Walking in the Air” which reached No 2 in the charts.  In a career covering some 20 years, Aled has 27 albums to his name selling over 6 million to date.

Starring performances as Joseph in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical have recently further raised his stature and celebrity, as has his own radio show 'Good Morning Sunday with Aled Jones' on BBC Radio2 every Sunday morning. The Extravaganza is fortunate to have secured such an outstanding replacement for the unavailable Myleene Klass.

Adult tickets are £30 in advance, Children aged 6 – 16 £15, Under 6’s free. If you buy 10 adult tickets, you get an 11th ticket free.
