This is also gonna be my first visit to glastonbury (although i have been to many, many others over the years), so i have read every word of this topic with interest.

I have a question about fires!! I know that they do not have a blanket ban on fires like other festivals, but can anyone give me an idea of what we can get away with? Can i make a (controlled) open fire, or does it need to be contained..?
Would i be able to carry my own firewood into the festival?

I went last year for the first time ever to a festival and was also worried about the washing and showering problems. I need not have worried as this is what I did.....

Got one of those solar showers and filled it half with caold tap water and boiled the kettle a few times for the other half. I then sat in a small round kids paddeling pool just inside my tent (could do it outside it you wore a bikkni!) then got someone to hold the shower bag above me to let the water come down on me while I had a quick, but sufficiant wash! Can also wash hair like this too.

So easy and felt good as new every day!!

It's been something GFL have tightened up on. Basically anything over max of a metre high is going to be reported & put out. You can bring firewood but unless you're willing to drag it miles (and you may well have to drag it through rain & mud) then I'd get it onsite. There's normally some wood on the train lines on the Wednesday but that goes fast, but there's firewood on sale onsite.
