Well, I'm from the states (los angeles) and i am coming out to
europe for a run of festivals (glastonbury, hove, and roskilde). I
have been to many festivals in the pas (coachella, t in the park,
quart, benicassim, rock en seine, pukkelpop) but i have never been
to glasto.

As far as camping, i was readin that there are areas next to each of
the stages etc. I was just wondering if ya'll had any advice or
recommendations. what are certain camping areas typically like. im
22 and like more of the rock but love it all really (bjork, arctic
monkeys, the view, babyshambles, patrick wolf etc etc etc). i wanna
be partying late each night. i am going solo so itd be cool to meet
some people my age etc etc etc

also, what areas are less likely to flood as i know from weather
forcasts it looks like its gonna be a wet one this year

hit me back and thanks in advance for whatever advice you guys got
for a yankee

cheers,
david

I'd aim to where we'll be camping which is the field next to Pennards, or camp in Big Ground. Bring waterproofs and suncream.

Pennards Hill, mate. Very good vibe; enough going on to be interesting , yet quiet enough at night to get some sleep. People of all ages.

Just make sure you camp up the hill; we got submerged in the lower part of pennards, last time.

Judging by the music you like; avoid the dance area altogether; very rowdy.

Yep; i'd say pennards, for my money...

It's really down to personal choice.

I camped the last couple of years to the south of the railway line, but still not far from it.

I've also camped just NW of the pyramid stage.

I liked both.

The southern fields are huge, and therefore much more like the experience of camping at T in the Park or Leeds or other such festivals with separate arena and campsite areas.

If you want to camp with us, some of us usually camp together. Last year we were next to the ATMs, which won't be any help as they've moved.

I'll PM you my mobile number. Or you can PM me yours if you're interested. That is if you have a british number?!?
Probably best to use text messages as the signal onsite can be useless for actual calls. Plus texts use less battery!

Other wise I'll try to check this board again before I set off on Wednesday. Or perhaps King Mob can keep a check on it as he'll be home until Wednesday. I leave tomorrow early to get the first leg done from Aberdeen to Northamptonononshire.

Jinxed....

Pennards and the other one, which I can't remember, but also can't be bothered scrolling up to see the name are the largest, so through necessity people have camped there.
And people generally like to camp in a similar place each year.

Big Ground faces the Pyramid Stage; Pennards is next to the Green Fields. Check out the map below...

http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/uploadedImages/Information/FineGuide/fineguide-map-2007-1280.gif

These field fill very fast, in fact Pennards has already people camping there who must be crew who have shunned the crew camping. Pennards does have a nasty habit of flooding (in 98 and 2005 it was a swimming pool), Big Ground is very popular and gets a bit rowdy nearer the stages but it can be fun, or if you'd prefer slog to the top of the field for a bit more quiet.

Take note of the scale; Glastonbury could fit TitP and V in it's site easily with room to spare.

The best place to go for anything Glastonbury related, especially if you've never been before, is this;

http://www.gorge.org/glastonbury/tort-camp-faq.shtml#8

Pretty much bang on.

Big ground pretty much overlooks the Pyramid, so lots of people go there because of the handy location. Pennards just has a cozy buzz to it, aswell as health+welfare, Locckups and cashpoint. It's reasonably well placed to get you into the main drag fairly quickly and is nice for the quieter areas of the site too.

There's no real "bad" places to camp; it really depends on your expectations and  vibe. We'll definitely be in Pennards.

Either way; you're going to have the time of your life. Drink some real cider and eat some welsh oggies. Food of the gods...
