Ray Davies is to headline Glastonbury Abbey for the annual
Extravaganza in August, Michael Eavis announced today.

This years event the 19th in a long running summer tradition for
the West Country - will take place in the grounds of Glastonbury
Abbey on Saturday August 8 and will end with the traditional firework
display.

Ray Davies was the lead vocalist and songwriter for The Kinks and
last headlined the Extravaganza in 2007.

The announcement comes as packed houses are enjoying Sunny
Afternoon, the critically acclaimed new musical in the West End which
tells the story of the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to stardom
of The Kinks.

The musical features some of The Kinks best-loved songs including
You Really Got Me, Waterloo Sunset and Lola.

Michael said: Rays a legend and Im so delighted that he wants to
come back again Im his No.1 fan of all time. The Kinks have
played the Glastonbury Festival several times and its so good that
everybody knows all the songs. This will be yet another Abbey night
to remember!

Janet Bell, Abbey director, said: Were delighted that, thanks to
Michael, the Extravaganza is returning to the Abbey in 2015. The
Extravaganza is a wonderful local event and is a highlight of the
summer for many people.

Last year Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters took to the
stage for a sell-out night with the help of George Ezra. Previous stars

and Bryan Ferry and The Bryan Ferry Orchestra.
