Coldplay have been confirmed as one of the headline acts for Glastonbury 2011. The band will top the bill along with Beyoncé and one other artist, widely rumoured to be U2.
Chris Martin's gang will play the Saturday (25 June) slot on the Pyramid stage. This will be the third time they have headlined Glastonbury.
"Coldplay have played such a major part in the festival over the last 10 years or so," said organiser Michael Eavis. "As their popularity grew around the world I was so proud of them. This is the triumphant return of a band that everyone here feels part of. They're one of the greatest phenomena to grow from these fields."
The band's two previous headline shows were in 2002 and 2005. Coldplay are currently working on the follow-up to 2008's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. Tickets for this year's festival sold out almost four months ago, just hours after going on sale.
